On Friday will begin the cultural week with protagonism of the people of Bembibre

With the National Festival of Exaltation of Botillo a little closer, Bembibre will enter this Friday, February 14, in the cultural week that presents a program of activities focused on the Neighborhood Councils, according to the theme of the gastronomic event. The first contact will be with the opening of the exhibition “Our districts, our heritage”, at the Casa de las Culturas, at 6 pm.

It is an ethnographic exhibition focused on the villages of Bembibre: old and current images, tools or traditional household utensils, among others, always with the aim of showing the rootedness of these populations with their history. In addition, the Neighborhood Councils will have an active role since they are the ones in charge of selecting the elements that will be shown in this exhibition.

The public will be able to visit it until March 14.

On Monday, February 17, at 8 pm, a new activity of the cultural week will propose us to know the villages of Bembibre through the documentary video “Bembibre and its districts, tradition, history and life”, coordinated by Nicanor García Ordiz. A day later, on Tuesday, at 8 p.m., a round table will be held with the participation of the mayors of the nine Juntas Vecinales to share values, customs and traditions of the villages, without forgetting the valuable role played by the pedáneos.

On Thursday, February 20, the Benevivere Theater will host a filandón on the districts, with the accompaniment of the traditional area of the School of Music of Bembibre, at 8 pm.

Humor, entertainment and Agroalimentary Fair

Beyond the central theme of the Botillo Festival, and in line with previous years, the cultural week will dedicate one day to a comedy performance. This year it will be with the monologuist David Amor and the show “Love is in the air”. It will be on Wednesday, February 19, at 8 p.m., at the Benevivere Theater, with free admission.

The program of activities of the LII National Festival of Exaltation of the Botillo also includes the XIV Jornadas de Pinchos del Botillo, which this year will have 12 participants, and the Agroalimentary Fair. It will open its doors on Friday, February 21, marking the beginning of the Botillo weekend with the participation of 40 exhibitors from seven autonomous communities, as well as one from France.

The Fair will be located in its usual location, in the Bembibre Arena pavilion. On Friday, the opening of doors will be at 17 hours, and the inauguration will be on behalf of the national deputy Javier Alfonso Cendón, at 19 hours. During the weekend, the fair will be open from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm.

It includes workshops for making botillo (pork sausage) badges, cookie workshop, pizza workshop and hamburger workshop, according to the schedules detailed in the program. There will also be a free arcade center.

On February 22 there will be an exhibition and tasting of ham cutting for attendees, from 12 to 15 hours, and on Sunday, February 23, bun preñado at 18 hours.

The popular restaurant will be open on Friday for dinner; Saturday for lunch and dinner; and Sunday only for lunch. The price is 14 euros per diner and reservations can be made in advance at 670621452.
