Sonsoles Ónega, hostess of the LII Festival del Botillo de Bembibre that will feature the performance of Soraya Arnelas
The journalist Sonsoles Ónega, winner of the Planeta Prize 2023 for her novel “Las hijas de la criada” (The Maid’s Daughters), will be the moderator of the LII National Festival of Exaltation of the Botillo de Bembibre, to be held on February 22 at the Manuel Marqués Patarita pavilion.
She is a consecrated professional of communication. She began her career in the CNN+ channel, which opened the doors to the television channel Cuatro and the news services of Telecinco, where she worked as a parliamentary reporter in the Congress of Deputies.
Her time on television has put her in charge of thematic, variety and magazine programs. In 2018, she presented “Ya es mediodía”, which she simultaneously presented in 2020 with the reality show “La casa fuerte” in 2020, and with “Ya son las ocho” in 2021 and 2022.
In that same year she signed with Atresmedia, where she hosts the program “Y ahora Sonsoles” on Antena 3.
But beyond her professional career, her literary facet also stands out, which began in 2005 with the publication of “Calle Habana, esquina Obispo”. Since then she has published seven titles up to “Las hijas de la criada”, published in 2023, which won the Planeta Prize.
A curriculum that, by itself, stands out in the National Festival of Exaltation of the Botillo, but which has the anecdotal component of being the daughter of Fernando Ónega, who was maintainer of the Botillo Festival 30 years ago, on February 18, 1995.
Soraya’s performance
The singer and songwriter Soraya Arnelas will star in the musical performance of the Botillo Festival, putting the finishing touch to the central act prior to the gala dinner. The artist, who was one of the protagonists of the television program Operación Triunfo in 2005, is preparing her 20th anniversary tour, which will be preceded by the performance in Bembibre.
Her debut that same year 2005 with “Corazón de fuego” and songs like “Mi mundo sin ti” were the gateway to the general public, and that have allowed her to stay during these two decades with recognized songs like “Self control”, “Con fuego”, “Qué bonito” or “Dreamer”.
She represented Spain at the European Eurovision Song Contest with the song “La noche es para mí”.
In recent years, Soraya has had extensive concert tours and performances in major halls and nightclubs throughout Spain.
The Botillo Gala
The Gala del Botillo will begin at 8 p.m. after the reception of guests at the Manuel Marqués Patarita Pavilion. This edition will be presented by radio announcer Javier Domingos and journalist Vanesa Silván, with the usual format of recent years that combines audiovisual production, stage production, speeches and musical performance.
As usual, the Botillo Festival will serve to formalize a new twinning which, on this occasion, will be with the Casa de León in Asturias.
At the event, the Councillor for Culture, Festivals, Tourism and Trade, Belén Martín Díaz, will greet the attendees and read the decision of the literary contest. In the institutional field, the mayoress of Bembibre, Silvia Cao Fornís, will address a few words to the public and will introduce the hostess. After her speech, a 30-minute musical performance will bring the gala to a close, followed by the botillo tasting dinner.
Logistics
Logistics are important to achieve the best results in the organization of the National Festival of Exaltation of the Botillo. For this it is essential to resort to a number of companies that are responsible for providing those services that can not be managed directly by the City of Bembibre.
This year the floral ornamentation has been entrusted to Flores Zaira and the decoration and tents corresponds to the company Carpalia.
The company that will serve the catering will be Hanasson Eventos. The diners will taste the botillo made by Embutidos Santa Cruz de Montes. There will also be Hinojosa caramelized nuts.
